Black Boar Caladoc Shiraz 2007
Direct from a top cellar in the heart of the Minervois comes this stunning blend of top-quality Shiraz and rare local grape Caladoc - rich, ripe and thoroughly delicious thanks to expert winemaking know-how … and a little help from local wild boars!
It's made by winemaking maestro Thierry Tesseyre who, despite masses of experience across Europe, has never made such a blend before! He was thrilled with the result, which captures all the warmth and untamed character of his rugged Minervois home.
So what makes it so distinctive (and so delicious)? 'Local secret' Caladoc grape - a cross between Malbec and Grenache - is prized for its gloriously deep colour, rich fruit … and all-round oomph! Add a generous splash of barrel-aged Shiraz and you've a totally unique blend, and a red with depth, finesse and mountains of juicy cassis that's exceptionally good value to boot!
Plus, the fruit is seriously intense, thanks to the wild boars that roam through Thierry's vineyards, feasting happily on the ripe grapes. This keeps yields low, and the fruit left on the vine is even richer and more concentrated! Snap up this richly fruited gem while stocks last!
